Getting Started

Readium does not require account creation or complicated setup. The fastest way to get familiar with it is to follow the flow below.

1. Add a book from Library

Open Library from the bottom navigation and tap the + button in the top right.

The search screen supports:

  • external catalog search by title or author
  • direct ISBN input
  • barcode scanning for ISBN search

When you choose a result, the book is added to your Library. Right after that, the app can ask you to choose the book's ownership status.

2. Review the book detail page

Tap a book in Library to open its detail page. From there you can:

  • change book status
  • save or clear a rating
  • start and end reading
  • mark the book as completed or abandoned
  • review book notes and session notes

3. Start reading

You can start a session from the book detail page or from the Now Reading tab.

Once the session starts, reading time begins to accumulate and the book appears in Now Reading.

4. End reading

When you end a session, you enter progress.

  • Entering 100% marks the book as completed.
  • Entering less than 100% ends only the session and can lead to a session note flow.
  • Very short sessions under one minute may not be saved as normal records.

5. Review your history

After reading, the two most useful places are:

  • Timeline to see what happened and when
  • Stats to see total time and the last 7 days of reading

6. Back up your data

Because Readium stores data locally, it is a good idea to save a .readium backup from Settings if the records matter to you.
