Readium (“the app”) respects your privacy. This page explains how data may be handled while using the app.

Summary

  • Your reading logs/sessions/notes/timeline are stored locally on your device.
  • Readium uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication and Google AdMob.
  • Your reading data is not uploaded to a Readium server.

1. Data collection and use​

Readium does not upload your reading logs, sessions, notes, or timeline content to a Readium server.

However, the app may use third-party services listed below. These services may process certain information to provide their functionality.

(1) Firebase Authentication (Anonymous Sign-in)​

  • Purpose: anonymous user identification for app operation and protection
  • Possible data processed (examples): anonymous user identifier, device/app information, operational logs
  • This data is used for app functionality and account management.

(2) Google AdMob​

  • Purpose: serving ads and measuring ad performance and quality
  • Possible data processed (examples): Advertising ID, IP address, device information, app interaction data, ad interaction and diagnostic information
  • This information may be processed for ad delivery, ad measurement, and personalized advertising.
  • Users may limit ad personalization or reset advertising identifiers through their device settings.
  • Readium does not use Google Analytics for Firebase. (Exact details depend on Google’s policies.)

2. Local data stored on your device​

The following data is stored in the app’s local database:

  • books in your Library
  • reading status and logs
  • reading sessions
  • book notes / session notes
  • timeline entries

This data remains on your device unless you explicitly export or share it.

3. Sharing with third parties​

Readium does not sell or share your local reading data.

Third-party services (Firebase, AdMob) may process certain data under their own terms and privacy policies.

4. Retention and deletion​

  • Local data can be removed by deleting the app or by using in-app data deletion features (if available).
  • Retention and deletion of data processed by third-party services are governed by those providers.

5. Your choices​

Depending on your OS/device settings, you may:

  • limit ad personalization
  • reset your Advertising ID
  • manage certain privacy settings related to ads
